Why Wool?
All-Natural
Wool is 100% natural material and it grows year-round. We take our wool from a Bulgarian mill that collects it from local sheep herds. Before we put it in our mattresses and bedding it’s only been washed with a GOTS certified agent.
VOCs Free
Wool has no off-gassing and zero VOCs. It’s completely toxic-free, reducing exposure to VOCs at home.
Temperature Regulative
Wool keeps you cool in the summer & warm in the winter so that you can feel and sleep really well in all seasons.
Extremely Breathable
Due to the unique structure of its fibres, wool is exceptionally breathable, providing unparalleled comfort. See the structure above.
Diminishes Body Odor
Most synthetic fibers increase body odor because they create a breeding ground for bacteria. Wool’s unique structure repels bacteria thus prevents build-up of body odors.
Moisture Regulative
Through its breathability and water wicking quality, wool regulates body moisture which is especially beneficial to people who sweat during the night. Good bye, sweaty nights!
Dust Mite Resistant
If there is one thing that dust mites just cannot stand, it is wool. Lanolin and the structure of the wool fibers repel them, thus making the wool filling naturally dust mite resistant.
Hypoallergenic
Dust mites are the major cause of allergy and asthma suffering. Wool is resistant to dust mites and wool bedding makes a wonderful alternative to feathers and synthetics. Suitable for people with MCS and other chemical sensitivities.
Super Durable
Wool’s durability and strength come from the fact that its fibres can be bent back on themselves 20,000 times before breaking. To put this into context cotton breaks after 3,200 bends and rayon fibres only last 75 times!
Flame Resistant
Wool is naturally flame resistant. Used in furniture items and bedding, it can provide a greater level of fire safety. Unlike nylon and polyester, wool does not flame or melt. It is the only bedding material, not required by law to be sprayed with fire retardants.
Isolates Motion Transfer
Wool mattresses are perfect for couples and light sleepers. Motion is not transferred from one part of the mattress to another, so when your partner moves, you don’t feel it on your side.
Exceptionally Supportive
Wool mattresses promote a healthy posture during sleep through the unique way the springy wool fibers support the bodyweight – distributing weight evenly and away from pressure points, relieving pain in joints, and soothing aching muscles, better than any other natural or synthetic material.
Mildew Resistant, Antimicrobial & Anti-bacterial
Wool fibers have a natural water-wicking property that prevents moisture from being retained in the fabric, naturally inhibiting mildew. Wool also has natural anti-microbial properties because bacteria tend to be attracted to smooth positively charged surfaces like those of synthetic fibres rather than the scaly, neutrally charged surface of the wool fibre.
Renewable, Biodegradable & Sustainable
Wool is a renewable material – once cut it grows back naturally. At the end of its life cycle, wool completely degrades in soil, releasing important nutrients into it.
