Top Houseplants for Good Night’s Sleep

Now that the days are getting shorter and colder are you planning to bring more beautiful pieces of nature inside? Science says that’s exactly what you should do! Did you know that NASA suggests having at least one plant per 100 sq. feet of your home? Well, understandably, NASA has done a lot of research on the indoor environment, and we should consider their advice as a reliable piece of information.

The VOCs (primarily formaldehyde and benzene) emitted from pretty much everything we have at home can make the air inside much more toxic than the air outside. And during the colder months, as windows are staying closed, we surely need an army of plants ready to absorb the harmful gasses thus filtering and purifying the air we breathe at home, reducing the formaldehyde and benzene levels inside.

So yes, houseplants, in general, are good for your home, but some of them take a small step further and help you even sleep better! While most potted plants are not suitable for your bedroom, there are some that can help you catch some quality z’s.⁠

The Pathos plant has shiny, heart-shaped leaves falling down into beautiful vine stems. It’s one of the easiest houseplants to grow and propagate! Its best feature is the ability to filter formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, and benzene. It is perfect for the bedroom because it will purify the air of toxins and eliminate odors. It will also increase the oxygen levels in the room overnight.

Aloe Vera

Just like the Snake Plant, the Aloe Vera plant emits oxygen at night, keeping the air in your bedroom fresh and pure. ⁠
