Wash at wool program with a wool detergent. Or use gentle cycle at low temperature (up to90 F or 30 C) with a mild detergent without brighteners. Do not bleach. Air dry. Steam iron. Do not iron the elastic straps. To increase the waterproof abilities of the protector, lanolize it before first use and after each washing:

Fill a bucket/sink with lukewarm water (hot water will felt and shrink wool).
In a separate cup of hot water dissolve a teaspoon (or 2-3 spoons for larger sizes) of pure solid lanolin. Dissolving well is important to avoid sticky spots on the wool.
Once well dissolved add to the lukewarm water and mix.
Soak the protector in the lukewarm, lanolin-rich bucket.
Let sit for a minimum of 3 hours to overnight.
Gently squeeze the fabric to remove excess water. Air dry.
