We might not be the spring cleaning experts but we surely know how to spring clean and care for your wool items: wool mattresses, wool cushions, wool pillows, wool duvets, and wool rugs. Here we go!
Mattresses and Toppers
- Spot clean the ticking if needed. It’s always advisable to treat spots immediately.
- Vacuum thoroughly both sides of your wool mattress or topper with the upholstery brush attachment of the vacuum cleaner.
- Let them air out in the sun for a day.

Tufted Cushions
- Spot clean the cover of the tufted cushion if needed. It’s always advisable to treat spots immediately.

- Let it air out in the sun for a day.
Non-Tufted Cushions
- Wash the cover. Use gentle cycle, low temperature. Use a mild detergent, without brighteners. Air-dry it completely. Steam iron.
- Vacuum the insert and let it air out in the sun for a day.
Wool Blankets
- Hand wash and rinse your wool blankets gently in lukewarm water (around 90º F / 30º C). Use a mild wool detergent. If you use a machine, set it on wool cycle at 90º F / 30º C . Do not tumble dry or bleach. Gently squeeze any excess water.
- Air-dry. Make sure the blankets are completely dry before you put them away for the warmer months.
- Store in a storage bag or plastic box to keep moths and other pests out. To protect from condensation, wrap them in clean cotton fabric. Tuck a lavender sachet bag in the bag. Lavender is the perfect natural moth-repellent.
Wool Duvets
- We do not recommend frequent washing of wollen dekbedinzetten. Always use inside a duvet cover. If an incident happens and you need to wash the duvet, however, handwash or use gentle wool cycle, low temperature, no more than 90º F / 30º C, and a mild detergent. Never tumble-dry. Air-dry while completely dry, preferably on a flat surface.

Wool Rugs
- Vacuum your wool rug thoroughly.
- Shake out dirt outside.
- Let it air out in the sun for an hour or two.
